Bob Mongrain
Dr. Bob Mongrain received his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree in 1979, graduating from the University of Florida. He served in the Indian Health Service before beginning a private practice in 1982.

Dental education is an ongoing interest for Dr. Mongrain. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Oral Roberts University and currently a faculty member at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Currently, Dr. Mongrain lectures and conducts training seminars for dentists around the country and internationally. He is a leader in CAD/CAM dentistry and consults and trains for the E4D CAD/CAM crown system.

He is a member of the distinguished 3M Council for Innovative Dentistry. He currently teaches and trains for several dental manufacturers. Professional Association Memberships include: American Dental Association, Oklahoma Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Federation Dentaire International, a Board Member of the Academy of CAD/CAM Dentistry, and the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Mongrain and his wife, Dee, have two grown daughters. They have traveled internationally on short-term mission trips.

In addition to dentistry, Dr. Mongrain dedicates himself to his interest in firefighting. He has just completed his career as a volunteer firefighter in Bixby.

Dr Stephen Travis
BDS (Hons) MDSc

Stephen has been a registered specialist prosthodontist since 1994, having attended the University of Sydney at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is currently a member of the International College of Prosthodontists, the Academy of Australian Prosthodontists, the Australian Society of Prosthodontists and the Australian Osseointegration Society.

His prosthodontic interests lie in comprehensive treatment planning, digital dentistry, ceramic materials and craniomandibular dysfunction. Stephen is involved in postgraduate education of prosthodontists at the University of Sydney. He hopes to one day write a song the whole world will sing.

Robert Aslan

Dr Robert Aslan is a graduate Bachelor of Dentistry from University of Sydney in 1985. He has worked in private practice at Mortdale, NSW since 1987.

Over the past 4 years Robert has adapted Erbium lasers to traditional dental treatment modalities especially in soft tissue treatments. These adaptations allow lower pain alternatives to his patients with consistent results.

He has lectured locally and internationally in dental laser procedures. He is also a recognised trainer for Biolase, leading hands on training seminars for dental surgeons.

Dr Brad Wright

Brad Wright has dual qualifications in dentistry and law. He gained his dental
degree from the University of Qld in 1982 and his law degree from Deakin
University in 1998. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Legal Medicine.
Dr Wright is registered in Queensland and practices dentistry in both Gympie
and Brisbane. He has a particular interest in restorative dentistry,
implants and CAD CAM.

Jim
Dr Jim Ironside

Jim Ironside has both BDS and MDS (Pros) from the University of Adelaide. He spent 3 years in the public service dental sector at Ceduna on the far west coast of SA serving schools and indigenous communities. This was followed by 5 years in his own general practice and then 4 years full time doing his MDS and specialist registration programs. A change to academic life at Sydney Uni was next during which time he also worked for the late Dr David Southan and also as a consultant Prosthodontist to the RAN at HMAS Albatross. For the last ten years he has been in full time private practice having taken over from Dr Southan when he retired at the end of 1998. Since coming to Sydney he has gained a PhD in fracture mechanics/dental ceramics, adding considerably to his publications, lectured around the globe and in most parts of Australia. The topics he mainly presents are associated with treatment planning, preparation design and fixed prosthodontic clinical techniques, implants, clinical photography and the use of the operating microscope. He also provides expert opinions for the legal profession.

 Outside of dentistry Jim and his wife Kathy enjoy gardening, touring remote areas of the Australian Outback, church life and of course photograph. They have three children and a Border Collie.

Mr Phil Ramsden
Phil trained as a medical technologist at Mater Hospital Sydney and Sydney Technical college and then worked in clinical pathology in Sydney before moving to Johns Hopkins School of Medicine , Baltimore Maryland USA, to work in kidney research with Prof RH Heptinstall, for six years. He has contributed to many medical publications and Prof. Heptinstall's book, The Pathology of the Kidney.

Phil moved to London to work at Royal Northern Hospital, Holloway and returned to Sydney to manage the Pathology Department at Rachel Forster Hospital.

Subsequently he transferred to private industry and worked for Leica Microsystems selling laboratory and surgical microscopes for 20 years. During this time taught Scientific Photography and Microscopy at Sydney TAFE for over 20 years. As part of his extracurricular project work, Phil photographed 250 artists for the Mosman Council book, Mosman Impressions.

Phil retired in 2000 but returned to work part time as a consultant in scientific applications at Foto Riesel, Sydney, a leading supplier of technicial camer and photgraphic equipment to the medical and dental professions.

We're very fortunate to have someone with Phil's background and experience at CadCamCon 5. Phil will be presenting a workshop with Dr Jim Ironside on digital photography. Don't forget to register your interest in this hands-on workshop.

Gerald Loh
Dr Gerald Loh
Gerald is a Cerec practitioner at Narellan, NSW, a certified International Cerec Trainer and absolutely stunned the crowd at CCC3 with his pumped-out, stripped-down and speeded-up Cerec he cobbled together from old stickywax, spare capacitors from his SLR Benz Bluetooth module and a Phillips head. Clocking speeds for arch construction in excess of 128 Cerecbytes per cusp, Gerald is at home with Tech, Hi-Tech and Tech so high the main problem is precipitation and lightening.

Gerald will be addressing serveral general interest topics including back-up options for GP dentists, and 'cloud' computing-what's in it for you?

 

Mr Stavros Zervas MDT

Stavros Zervas is a Master Dental Technician who hails from Heidelberg, Germany.
Currently employed by Henry Schein Halas, Australia. Stavros is the National Laboratory
Technical Specialist and Trainer. With over 22 years of experience, Stavros has worked in
various Laboratories throughout Germany, specialising in ceramics and milling techniques.
Commercially, he has represented numerous international dental manufacturers in Europe
through providing hands-on ceramic courses and lectures. Stavros has assisted with
product evaluations for Vita, Scheu, Schütz, Bego and Vertex.

Stav will be hosting one of the Conference Workshops on Staining and Glazing, and also aesthetic cut-back techniques for charterisation and customising of individual ceramic restorations like veneers and crowns for anterior teeth. Don't forget to register for this outstanding hand-on experience - numbers limited.

Geoff is currently National Sales Manager - Australia for Ivoclar.
Geoff is very well known in the local dental industry, in particular with CAD/CAM Technology – having being involved with the CEREC® system in the Australasian market since CEREC 1 (1994). Being a specialist for CAD/CAM and All-Ceramics, he has been involved in numerous CAD/CAM Professional Development courses, events, and symposiums. He regularly lectures at universities, dental schools and internationally. He is keen to impart his knowledge and skills in the area of CAD/CAM Technology, and explain and demonstrate how it can benefit dental professionals.
